“Research and treatment of oncological and pediatric diseases”

Since 1994, Fondazione Città della Speranza has aimed to improve the conditions of care and assistance for children with oncohematological diseases, as well as to finance scientific research in the pediatric field. Thanks to the help of companies, associations, private citizens and the strength of volunteering, it has created and supports:

  • the Pediatric Oncohematology Clinic of Padua, a national reference center for the diagnosis of leukemia, lymphomas and sarcomas. This means that all children, resident in Italy or coming from abroad, are guaranteed a certain diagnosis within 30 hours and the best treatment protocols;

    • the Città della Speranza Pediatric Research Institute , the largest European research center in this field, which deals with pediatric pathologies from different aspects to multiply the chances of success in terms of new discoveries. The most represented research areas are: pediatric oncology, stem cell transplantation and gene therapy; regenerative medicine; nanomedicine; genetics and rare diseases; predictive medicine; immunology and neuroimmunology.
      The action of Città della Speranza has contributed significantly to increasing the recovery rates, bringing them from about 30% in 1994 to 85% today. The treatment protocols, developed in its laboratories, are adopted in 51 countries around the world.
